Assistant loco pilot is a crucial position in Indian Railways that plays a pivot role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation in train.The RRB has started the online application process for assistant loco pilot.

Vacancies: The total number of vacancies under all RRBs which will be filled in this requirement drive is 5696.

Age Limit: The candidates who are in the age group of 18 – 30 years as on July 1, 2024 can apply for the assistant loco pilot.

Application free: The application fee is Rs 250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, female, transgender, minority, and EBC category candidates. For all other, it is Rs 500.

Selection Process: The recruitment process involves five stages, Computer Case test (CBT-1), second stage (CBT-2), computer based aptitude test (CBAT), document verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME).

Exam Pattern: CBT-1 exam is conducted in online mode for 75 marks. A total of 75 multiple choice questions are to be answered in 1 hour. Candidates are awarded 1 mark for each correct answer, while a negative marking of 1/3 is done for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate. The questions in the RRB ALP CBT-1 are asked for Mathematics, Mental Ability, General Science, and General Awareness.

Exam Pattern for CBT-2

The candidates who qualify the RRB ALP CBT-1 are eligible for CBT-2. The RRB CBT-2 round will have two parts. Part A has questions from Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering, and Part B will be based on relevant trades. 1 mark for each correct answer and a negative marking of 1/3 for each incorrect answer.
